Hey everyone!
So there have been rumors flying around Cincinnati for the past week about the reds trading Homer Bailey + a prospect for Jermaine Dye. I have mixed feelings about the trade, but I think as long as the prospect traded was low level, it would be good for the Reds.
Although he is going to be 35 by next season, he still can produce for a couple more years. He is a right handed bat, which the reds strongly need, and he can produce runs. If all else fails, we could trade him at the deadline if things aren't working out. I mean honestly, who would make better trade bait at the deadline, Bailey or Dye. I would definitly say Dye. He would bring in better prospects for us than the pitcher who has been shelled mostly every major league start, and lost everything on his fastball. I mean if we don't get Dye who else are we going to get, Pat Burrel?? Please no, he has too many striking similarities to Adam Dunn.
Well, I guess us fans just have to sit back, wait and see what happens!

Let Pete In
So, I decided that my first blog entry was my thoughts on why Pete Edward Rose deserves to be in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Here it goes!
When mentioning the date September 11th, 1985, almost anyone in Cincinnati knows exactly what you are talking about. This famous day is remembered to be one of the most memorable individual achievements in all of sports history. On this day, Pete Rose reached a milestone, being credited as baseball’s all time hits leader.
Pete Rose is one of the best players to every play the game, period. Not only did he accomplish a lot on the field, he played with a strong heart and was the prototypical team player; all of which completely override his illegal gambling on baseball. Someone who achieves so much greatness, whether they had a gambling problem or not, should be in the Hall of Fame.Rose holds the record for most career hits (4256), most games ever played (3,562), most at bats (14,053), the most singles (3,215) as well as his 14 other records. For one person to achieve so much greatest they must compete with a strong heart and the will to win.
Pete Rose was trated much more unfairly compared to other former sport stars. Pete Rose gambled on baseball, we all know that, but other major league stars such as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Albert Belle have done far worse things. Babe Ruth was known for his excessive drinking and severe womanizing. Albert Belle is a former major league baseball standout, who all throughout his career was known for his alcoholism, sever anger issues, and his potential use of steroids. On one Halloween, a few kids “ding-dong-ditched” Belle’s house and he chased them down with his car and threatened them. On Halloween kids are having fun, they weren‘t meaning any harm. Was chasing them down with a car and threatening them really necessary? Ty Cobb, the man Rose passed on the all time hits list, was considered the dirtiest player of all time. Ty Cobb would sharpen his spikes before every game to let people know they were going to go to the hospital if they tried to tag him out. Ty Cobb actually admitted to killing a man, and was also accused of fixing a Detroit-Cleveland game back on September 25, 1919. Ty Cobb was not only considered the dirtiest player of all time, he also is an accused murder, and even fixed an actual baseball game! Baseball is telling us that players with anger issues, alcohol addictions, severe womanizing, potential murder, and the fixing of a game are alright, but gambling is not? Pete Rose did a far less worse thing than any of these three current Hall of Fame players, so shouldn’t he be in Cooperstown? The Hall of Fame is supposed to honor a player's contributions to the game, not judge that person's moral character after his career has ended.
Unfortunately, Pete Rose is alone, only have dreams of the Hall of Fame in the back of his mind. Rose in entrapped in a world that refuses to forgive him. Even though he may never be in the Hall of Fame, his accomplishments on the field will be in the hearts of those forever that came to love Mr. Pete Edward Rose.
